FAQ

  • Are you a law firm or regulated legal practice??

No. Empowerment Legal Consultancy Ltd is an independent legal consultancy, not a law firm or solicitors’ practice, and ELC itself is not a regulated legal practice. We provide non-reserved legal consultancy including contract and document review, appropriate drafting, legal risk analysis, strategic legal insight and training.

Tony Power is a CILEX Paralegal (ACILEX) and is personally regulated by CILEX Regulation. ELC does not undertake reserved legal activities or services requiring separate regulatory authorisation, and where a matter falls outside our scope, appropriate specialist support will be recommended.

  • What kind of legal consultancy do you provide??

We help business owners, property investors and entrepreneurs understand their legal position, identify risk and make better-informed decisions. Our services include contract and document review, appropriate drafting within our consultancy scope, legal risk analysis, strategic legal insight and independent sounding-board support. We also provide tailored legal training and workshops.

  • Can you draft contracts for my business??

Yes. ELC can draft and review a range of business and commercial agreements, including consultancy agreements, service agreements, NDAs, terms and conditions and other appropriate commercial documents. All drafting instructions are subject to an initial scope review to ensure the work falls within ELC’s non-reserved and regulatory boundaries. Where a document or underlying matter requires a reserved or separately regulated professional service, we will identify this and recommend appropriate specialist input.

  • Do you offer a free consultation??

Yes. We offer a free 30-minute initial call to discuss your legal issue, identify the key questions and consider whether ELC can assist. It is an opportunity to gain some initial clarity, understand what further analysis may be appropriate and find out how our consultancy works.

There is no obligation to proceed. Where your matter falls outside ELC’s scope or requires specialist or regulated professional advice, we will make that clear and recommend appropriate next steps.

  • What does your monthly retainer include??

Our £150 per month Legal Sounding Board Retainer provides ongoing access to ELC for legal questions and issues arising within your business or property interests. It includes direct WhatsApp access during office hours, priority document review within an agreed scope, and one structured advisory call each month.

The retainer is designed for clients who value regular access to independent legal insight, helping them understand their legal position, identify potential risks and make better-informed decisions. All matters remain subject to ELC’s usual scope review.

  • Can you help with property-related legal issues and contracts?

Yes. We provide legal analysis for property investors and developers, including reviews of existing contracts and documents, titles, easements, access rights, restrictive covenants and other property-related legal issues. We can also identify contractual and legal risks and help you understand your rights and obligations.

All property-related instructions are subject to ELC’s scope review. Where a matter involves conveyancing, a regulated transaction or another service outside our remit, we will identify this and recommend appropriate specialist support.

  • Will I understand the documents you send me?

Yes. We pride ourselves on making legal language accessible. As part of our bespoke service, we walk you through the key terms in plain, strategic English so you understand not only what your contract says, but how to use it in real-world situations.

  • Are you insured to deliver legal consultancy?

Yes. ELC maintains professional indemnity insurance covering its legal consultancy services. We take legal accuracy, professional standards and client care seriously, and all work is undertaken within ELC’s defined legal and regulatory scope.

  • Can you train my team or speak at my event?

Yes. We offer internal training, team workshops, and public speaking on contract law, risk management, and strategic legal thinking — including our flagship Thought Barrister method for entrepreneurs and professionals.
